Our culture is not very supportive of caregiving, especially when done by family members (with or without help). Looking at other cultures provides us with insights into how to change this.
On Wednesday, November 11th, Mavencare organized its monthly cultural event featuring Patricia Fleischmann. Patricia, a 28 year veteran with Toronto Police Service, is the Vulnerable Persons Co-ordinator responsible for seniors’ disability and mental health issues. She is a national and international elder abuse educator for police and non-law enforcement audiences. The purpose of the event was to educate attendees about abuse in the elderly and open networking opportunities for attendees.
